OSHA Electronic Submission of 2016 Injury and Illness Records Deadline Extended until December 15

In May of 2016, OSHA implemented the Electronic Submission of Injury and Illness Records rule, which requires employers to electronically submit their data from the OSHA Form 300A. Originally, the deadline for employers to electronically submit their 2016 data to the OSHA database was July 1, 2017.

The original deadline was postponed to December 1, 2017, but has now been extended again until December 15, 2017. Affected employers should prepare to submit their required 2016 data to the OSHA database by December 15. DHS Ends Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti

Foreign nationals with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) are given temporary permission to live and work in the U.S. when their home country is unsafe due to natural disasters, armed conflict, or other emergency situations.

Haitians were given TPS following the 2010 earthquake that devastated the country. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has terminated TPS for Haiti as of July 2019. Those previously authorized to work in the U.S. under TPS will be required to reapply for authorized employment status beginning in January 2018.
