George Clooney For President!

Ides of March

If Arnold Schwarzenegger can be governor of California and Jerry Springer can be mayor of Cincinnati, why can’t George Clooney run for President of the United States? In his newest movie, Clooney does just that…well his character does. The Ides of March (released on October 7) follows an idealistic staffer (Ryan Gosling) while he works on the campaign for a newbie presidential candidate (George Clooney). Gosling’s character gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail. This political thriller is sure to highlight the backstabbing that is rampant in politics; after all the movie title refers to the day Caesar was stabbed to death by one of his own. Clooney not only stars in the film, but also wrote the screenplay and directed the movie. Seriously, what can’t that man do (beside commit to marriage)? Sadly, Clooney has stated that he has no … [Read more...]

Any reality TV junkie knows about the drama going down on this season of The Bachelorette. In case you don’t devote two hours every Monday to hoping Ashley finds true love, we’ll fill you in. Before the show even started, Bachelorette Ashley Hebert got a message forewarning her that one of her suitors -- Bentley Williams  -- was coming on the show for the wrong reasons. Ashley decided to dismiss the advice and welcomed Bentley into her ABC sponsored mansion with open arms. While Ashley fell hard for the divorced father from Salt Lake City, UT, he told the camera crew (and subsequently the millions of viewers at home) that he was just in the game to hurt Ashley and he hoped his hair looked good doing it. To her face, Bentley told her she was beautiful. Behind her back, he called her an ugly duckling. How rude. As we, along with viewers all over, screamed at Ashley through … [Read more...]

But What Does My Personality Have to Do With How Well I Do My Job?

We had great success with this month's webinar discussing the advantages of using assessments to help organizations hire the best employees. If you missed it, we’re sorry you weren’t able to participate with the nearly 100 attendees we had on hand, but we will have those materials available on the website soon enough for your viewing pleasure, so no worries there. Last week’s blog article discussed the topic of using assessments to “hire for attitude”. One reader posted the following comment that we thought was a very educated and good question many may have, so we thought we'd answer in the form of a blog post. Reader Question: “Are you saying that people who just don't fit in personality wise are bad hires? I'm not sure I understand that at all...personality really shouldn't fit into whether a person is suited for a position in my opinion. Unless, of course, … [Read more...]

How to Avoid Bad Hires for Your Company Culture – Plain and Simple

poor employee sleeping

In the pages of the Integrity HR Human Resources Blog we’ve addressed how to fire employees for poor performance and for bad attitude. We’ve discussed the inept, the toxic, and the impossible to manage, and we’ve even gone down the other side of the road and discussed what to do about those pesky bad bosses that can ruin the experience of an otherwise excellent employee. Now it’s time to address one of the most difficult management situations employers face – the good employee who does their job, comes in every day, generally gets along with everyone else, but just doesn’t fit in to the company culture and, therefore, really has no place to go. Perhaps their shortcoming is due to personal interest, motivation, interpersonal skills, or simply the fact that they have been mismatched to their position. These situations are terribly difficult because it’s not the … [Read more...]

Who are the rising stars at your Company? Here’s 5 tips for finding them and keeping them.

Every day we get up, look at the newspaper, turn on the TV, and what do we see? Negativity everywhere...that quite possibly the world is crashing in because of the economy.  I can only hope that's not happening everywhere, because many of my clients are doing well, working hard and not accepting defeat - mostly because they refuse to, and that they have high potential (HIPO) people who are driving them forward.  Do you have high potential people in the right spots to drive your business?  Here's a few tips to help you gain better insight to your people and how to get those high potential people in your organization and making a difference: 1.  Have a plan.  HIPO people want to know the leader has direction, goals and insight to where the organization is going.  It doesn't have to be long or complicated, but it should deliver the mission, goals and where you are "sailing the … [Read more...]

Got Assessments?

It goes without saying that hiring the right candidate for the right position is a key component of recruiting. However, if it is really that simple, why do organizations continue to lose countless hours and thousands of dollars in turnover costs? Perhaps the reason is they are missing a piece of the recruiting "puzzle." In order to attract the best candidates, many organizations focus on salaries, reward plans and other company sponsored benefits. The department of human resources then reviews work history, relevant experience and reference information supplied by the candidate in hopes of making the proper hiring decision. I say it's not enough. Research shows that the best hiring decisions are made when the organization uses additional information gathered about a candidate. The type of information I'm referring to is that which is generated by using pre-employment … [Read more...]
